Google-Glasses

Posted on Friday, Apr 13, 2012 in Advertising, Featured, New Technology | 0 comments

Who would have thought that technology would make our life so easy – no tools, no technical advices, no electronic instruments, just one simple agent, which most people are using in their everyday life: glasses.

Glasses help you to see the world better, clearer, and protect your eyes. Some other just have a cool-ness function; they are part of our look and our outfit.

But Google had a new intention for glasses – and started Project Glass. These glasses help you to explore and share the world. Your instructions can be given through a microphone, which recognises your voice. You can contact and connect with people, share your environment and ambience, check out in advance what’s going on during the day and the upcoming week, which will relieve your life. But the best part of this project is: as you are constantly online, people will be able to track down your location and get in contact with you right away. And, if you should be trapped in some way, Project Glass always has a solution.

With its camera, Project Glass is able to shoot pictures and videos, which can be immediately sent or uploaded.

But this is just the start of a great project, Google wants to collect the general opinion about their new invention. On the Google [x] page people are able to comment about pros and cons of these new glasses, which allegedly should make life much more easier.

Check the site and share your opinion – What would you like to see from Project Glass?

Bear Is Back

Who was not crazy about Tipp-Ex’s ‘Hunter Shoots a Bear’ campaign in 2010? And as every great and successful movie calls for a sequel, I was really glad to spend again quite some time typing different things above the video and giggle about the ridiculous adventures of these old friends. Yes, I can call them and Tipp-Ex old friends because they were realized what is usually a struggle for other brands.

The original campaign, by Buzzman agency, is an exquisite example of adding accurate and exciting content to an otherwise boring brand. I mean, correctors are all the same and they hardly can reach high level of involvement. Except when you have a great advertising idea in your hand. No wonder that the sales of Tipp-Ex boosted just afterwards.

This campaign was the first to utilize the surface of YouTube so creatively and interactively. Now meeting these familiar faces on an even more creatively employed surface is a total blast.

Kevin or Günther, it is a perfect way to follow up on a successful concept!

Explore Your Dual World

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 28, 2012 in Advertising, Featured, New Technology | 0 comments

Samsung introduced their first 2 SIM card smartphone, the Galaxy Y Duos. To celebrate this big step, they came up with the following highly surprising video.

The video uses the projection mapping technique in a rather unusual manner: on a human face. We are usually seeing such projections on large buildings or cars, but to use the human face of an actor as the projection’s single object of mapping is very intriguing.

The connection between the new Galaxy’s duality and the dual image on a human face is definitely an interesting approach, but all of this would have been even more exciting if somehow the phone’s technical specs were present in the creation of this video—yet again, maybe the only tech spec the Y Duos has is not lying behind its camera, but it’s simply the fact that it can use two SIM cards in the same time.

Post from Japan

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 28, 2012 in Featured, New Technology, Online / Web | 0 comments

After the horrible tsunami hit Japan last year, the country’s tourism is still recovering from the impression the happenings had on people coming to visit Japan. Therefore, people’s minds need to change and help them see Japan once again as a beautiful country free from catastrophes.

Having WiFi in Japan is expensive for foreigners, so Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm developed and app that gives just enough free web-time to upload a photo or put a post on one’s Facebook profile. Each like the post gets, gives the person using the app 3 more seconds free online.

These posts, through the app, are linked with Google and the most important websites about Japan, making tourists ambassadors of the country, and helping to rebuild the image of Japan.

There are so many ways to pay your online payments. Pay Pal and Fuseproject introduced the real-world payment for your phone.

Fuseproject designed a new product, which is functioning as a card reader, but attached on a mobile phone so you can swipe your card wherever you are. MMOVΞ

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 21, 2012 in Featured, Inspiration, New Technology, Outdoor | 0 comments

On January 1st, 2012 Markos Aristides Kern and his team set out to the desert to embark on an art expedition into the North African land of the Sahara desert. The MMOVΞ is the very first project of its kind in combining and connecting different locations with the idea of mixing harmony and disharmony.

In the work of Markos Aristides Kern, the theme here is evident focusing on the contrast between humans and how we differ in cultures. Although we are distinguished by our civilizations, we live on the same planet sharing the same experiences and emotions thus connecting us together. This is portrayed and displayed throughout the usage of large video projections.
The outcome of the project was beyond imaginable, in the two weeks that the team (consisting of 6 artists) stayed in Africa, they encountered many new challenges in discovering the limits of creativity with no confinements in space or deadline in which each project needed to be completed. As the conventional method of mapping was not possible in this circumstance, the MMOV (Multi Media Offroad Vehicle) built by Markos, was the movable production studio that has the ability to be set up in seconds for gigantic projections.

Mixing the unnatural with the natural and harmony with disharmony, projects for example ranged from the New York city skyline to the rocky mountains and bringing Venice to the desert. The art and technology brought by the team broadened and expanded the perspective of the people there. Bringing the people together despite the differences in our way of life and culture.

The final documentary will be out in the spring of 2012.

Windows of Opportunities

Posted on Thursday, Mar 1, 2012 in Featured, New Technology | 0 comments

General Motors’ R&D arm challenged the students from FUTURE lab at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel to make car backseats fun. Simple. However, the ideas and the installation they have come up with are not so simple.

How to make road trips a fun experience in new technology style? Windows of Opportunity turned car windows into interactive displays that aim to create an interesting connection between the people in the back seat and the world outside. The windows can respond to car speed and location to augment the real-world view with an interactive environment.

Unfortunately, these applications are not (yet) available on production GM vehicles. It was the team of students from Bazalel whose imagination went crazy. But the future belongs to the crazy ones, doesn’t it?

Surreal and Unreal HDTV

The new TV spot for DSTV HD was created by Luma for Underline Advertising, an animation studio that is known for its beautiful realistic creations.

The DSTV ad blurs the line between the displayed image and reality with this amazing film. It’s truly incredible how detailed and realistic the animation of the bee and the flowers are. The Pixar-style music accompanying the ad is also highly appropriate to the tone of the video and it even gives more elevation to the suspense.

A Creative Author

Posted on Monday, Feb 27, 2012 in Advertising, Featured, New Technology | 0 comments

This is another moment by Apple that makes your jaw drop. A couple of weeks ago, Apple proudly announced its latest application, the iBook Author.

This free app lets you create interactive eBooks of your very own. You can add texts, charts, photos, interactive diagrams, videos or even 3D objects. These books bring content to life in ways the printed page never could. There is still more to find. The greatest thing amidst all the editing, dragging, cutting, framing, coloring, customizing is that how easy it is. The app is user-friendly. The complex mechanisms are made simple. Just as we expected from Apple. However, the app’s amazing potentials in the field of education are limited to iPads. Apple doesn’t give away from its notorious exclusiveness.

It has never been so easy to publish such a well-designed book. By this app it takes only a few clicks to release your own edited book to the iBookstore. Isn’t this crazy enough?
